Young People
GoWrite is a programme of playwriting workshops, culminating in professional performances and publication, which transform young people into playwrights. We empower state secondary schools, SEN centres, PRUs and other youth settings, including for refugees, carers or young people with disabilities, to embed playwriting into their creative arts provision.
Young people taking part in the programme have the opportunity to engage with industry professionals, develop their own creative voice, hone their creative thinking and writing skills, and build confidence.
All of our opportunities are fully funded and completely free of charge to state schools and charitable organisations. They are currently available in the following regions:
• London
• South West of England
“The sessions, from the playwriting to performance, are invaluable. You are enabling students who are often told that they have ‘no creative talent’ to see what potential as storytellers lies within them. They love working with industry professionals who will provide them with their own published plays and the opportunity to see their work performed by professional actors.”
Writing a Monologue Workshops
Designed to give young people a taste of both playwriting and professional theatre-making, our Writing a Monologue programme not only complements the Drama and English curriculum but also encourages creative thinking and confidence, empowering young people to tell their own stories and become performed and published writers. The workshops are led by award-winning playwrights with a passion for sharing their experience and knowledge with young people.
Young people taking part:
-
Are supported to write their own monologues using a variety of playwriting and devising techniques;
-
Have their monologues published as printed books with a free copy for each participant;
-
See their monologues read by professional actors in filmed script readings;
-
Have the opportunity to enter our Young Playwrights' Award.
