Hannah is a British-Irish writer based in London. Her debut play was inspired by her time working as a (vegetarian) butcher in New York. It is a theatrical, funny story which interrogates the modern workplace in a changing world.
Papatango's CEOs George Turvey and Chris Foxon commented, "After a record number of entries, we and our new partners at Park Theatre were spoiled for choice in this year's shortlist - all of them big, bold plays tackling profound themes with wit and originality. But Hannah's writing stood out. Vividly theatrical, confronting social and economic systems nearing crisis, and with a gorgeous, witty ensemble of characters, we can't wait to develop it over the next year and then get cooking in Park200. If we want ambitious stories for today, then new writers need to be given the chance to shine on big stages, not just confined to studios."
It will be produced by Papatango and Park Theatre in autumn 2025, published by Nick Hern Books. Tickets will go on sale soon.
Huge congratulations to Hannah, the other brilliant shortlisted writers, and everyone who took the brave and generous step of trusting us with their stories. It is a huge privilege. Thank you. And thanks to our incredibly hard-working readers, who had an equal say in every stage of the process, voting for this shortlist and winner.
