About Me: In 2019, thanks to New Writing North, my memoir piece ‘Detail’ was published in Kit de Waal’s critically acclaimed ‘Common People’. That same year I received three awards including a Northern Writers Award, Arvon Gold Dust and Moniack Mhor Two Roads. Since December I’ve been working with Screen Yorkshire as writer, director and presenter on the Screen Crafts & Digital Skills Bootcamp. We’ve made a Shakespeare Yorkshire history mystery short film ‘Set In Stone’. A DYCP enabled me to develop scriptwriting skills with dramaturg Ishy Din. My plays have been listed for awards and one is currently in the running for the Theatre 503 International Playwriting prize. In 2020 Claire Malcolm MBE recommended me as a presenter for BBC Radio 4 My Name is Julie. In June 2020 in an Arts Council funded project I was mentored by Cathy Rentzenbrink to produce a book highlighting the legal injustice for victims of domestic abuse.
