About me

I’m Jules Risingham (she/her), a Yorkshire based scriptwriter. I take a collaborative approach to writing, taking inspiration from; the creative team, workshop participants, and snippets of conversations heard from passersby. I love creating work for people who may not have access to the arts, hoping to make theatre a space for curiosity, interaction, and learning.

Most recently, I have adapted the children's book ‘Mummy, There's a New Girl’ by Danielle Webb into a family theatre show - ‘New Girl’ by Thunk-It Theatre CIC. ‘New Girl’ which toured Yorkshire libraries, schools and community venues throughout October 2024 supported by Arts Council England and co-produced by Next Door But One CIC. Previously supported by Papatango, Active Towns, Theatre@41, and Market Weighton Library.

Select previous works include; ‘Gentle Lunette’ (Dillenia Dance Theatre), ‘Christmas with the Stevens’ (Gateshead Carers Association), ‘The Stories You Want To Tell’ (Kyra Women's Project in partnership with York Theatre Royal - shortlisted for the RSC’s 37 Plays Project), and ‘The Shambles Saves Christmas’ (Thunk-It Theatre CIC, supported by Visit York).
