About me
My last play was a one-man-show I performed in London, York and Edinburgh, inspired by a book written my grandfather, about a voyage he undertook with 12 companions to the island of Iona, as part of a pilgrimage to commemorate the anniversary of St. Columba's original voyage, 1400 years prior.
I'm now writing a family-friendly retelling of Beowulf.
My Plays
Getting to Iona
Synopsis:
A one-man-show about leaving home for the unknown. What we seek, what we find, and what we leave behind.
Colm is trying to get to lona. John is trying to follow Colm. Tom is just trying to follow the plot.
Together they will embark on an epic voyage of discovery, into the imagination, and across oceans of time.
In 563, St. Columba left Ireland forever and sailed to the island of Iona, to establish a monastery and spread the word of God.
In 1963, John Barry has the idea of recreating the voyage, an idea which immediately gets out of hand and begins snowballing into a life-changing adventure.
Decades later, I retell the story of the Iona voyage, and try to understand why anyone would bother.
