BACKSIES

Synopsis:

A woman comes into a bar. She sits with her back to the audience. The barman/maid faces the audience. There is a mirror above the bar allowing the audience to see her and other clients’ expressions.

A man at the bar speaks to her. At first she rejects him, he retreats, but then she explains that she is there to meet the wife of her lover, a woman she didn’t know existed. She’s nervous but stays with the plan until the woman arrives. The wife is gracious, though sad, but lets the mistress know of his other filandering and at the end she walks out saying “take him, he’s yours.” The mistress complains, does not want the man and the wife says… “No backsies.”
