About me
Sarah is a writer/theatremaker based emotionally in Manchester but physically in London.
Most recently, she had an Arts Council funded R&D for her play ‘My Mum’s Dead Boyfriend’ in Manchester (support from HOME theatre, Box of Tricks, and national/local grief charities including 42nd Street and Cruse). This was produced with her theatre company No Door Theatre, creating work since 2016.
No Door Theatre are Manchester-based producers of new writing with a specific focus on female voices and stories. Notable successes include producing 5 full length shows, touring performance to Manchester, London, Oxford & Edinburgh, and 3 sellout scratch nights to 100+ crowds.
Her sparkly gameshow ‘DO YOU FANCY THEM OR ARE THEY JUST IN THE VICINITY?’ about how ADHD affects your love life debuted at the Glitch as part of A Pinch of Vault Festival in February 2024, and came back as part of the inaugural Croydon Fringe in November.
As a writer, she’s most recently been selected as part of Box of Tricks first International PenPals programme. Her queer theatrical grief rave, ‘Fox, Drops & Panda Pops’ was shortlisted for the Lancaster Playwriting Prize and performed as part of Engine Room at the Clapham Omnibus.
She’s had work at The Other Palace, Deptford Literature Festival, Shoreditch Town Hall & Southwark Playhouse. She was previously winner of the Royal Exchange Theatre's Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting LocalTale award.
She is also a facilitator, working with (most recently) Hackney Shed, Montage Theatre, Cardboard Citizens. She is currently writing Hackney Shed Children Theatre's Summer Show: 'It was a dark and stormy night at the police station...'
As a director her most recent works include ‘Chosen’, a f-Undead musical for Beam Festival and The Other Palace and Moist for Flaw State Theatre.
She occasionally expresses her anxieties through poetry and has been seen at The Pleasance Theatre and the Vault Festival.
She teaches robotics and lego with Building Imagination, and leads bike tours around London.
