About me

I am a relatively new writer from the North East of England, who has just taken the slightly unhinged leap of 'voluntary severance' from my job as Senior Lecturer at  Newcastle University. With a PhD in human geography, and an undergad in 'Drama: theatre, film and television studies' from Bristol University,  I specialise in creative research methods/ theatre for social research. I'm interested in truthful writing, which explores the drama of everyday life. I have written two one-act plays and a few 10 minute shorts.

My Plays

Do you like my pants?

Synopsis:

A 10 minute short. Anne: dressed to the nines, meets a very handsome bloke. We think it's a blind date. She is so keen to impress him it's cringe. 'I've donated to charity, I've run a marathon, I'm bossing it at work.' He seems a little unsure. We soon learn that this is not in fact a blind date, it is a Dr's appointment. Suddenly Kathy's behaviour starts to make a different kind of sense. When she discovers her diagnosis - the mask crumbles - just for a second.
