About me
My name is Martha and I am really excited to join Papatango Studio.
I’ve been a part of Kiln Theatre’s ‘Listen Local Writers’ programme where I was commissioned to write a short-length play. I was then invited back to write a full length play. Much of the drafting for this play I did from Seoul, South Korea where I lived/ worked as a teacher for two years. The change in environment and adapting to an entirely new culture was a great source of inspiration.
I am interested in delving into new complex characters from different backgrounds and cross-cultural relationships. I am half Persian and half Australia which is most likely where the interest stemmed from.
I love comedy. I don’t think I’ll ever write something that isn’t part comedy. Anything that can make you laugh and cry I’m very much into and strive for in my own writing.
