Her cultural background and experience as an immigrant are always important parts of her work; showcasing her culture and community’s humour, their diversity, and generational differences with a lot of laughter and heart. Margarita’s work also features female and queer lead characters that are vulnerable, miserable, toxic and funny all at the same time.

Synopsis:
One Perfect Day | Un día perfecto is a hilarious portrait of a family in crisis on a big wedding day. Expertly crafted family chaos wonderfully realized through the much loved genre of the telenovela. Alba and Evan think they’re getting the picture perfect Colombian wedding but when the groom is swapped with an evil twin by a long lost sister bent on revenge, the special day falls into chaos, testing the family’s strength. The play is full of humour and heart; It’s a joyous and mischievous marriage between Colombian wedding traditions, the telenovela genre and the ceremony of attending the theatre. Written for a cast of seven, the script provides opportunities for Latine BIPOC and women to take on playful, complex roles. The project centers these communities’ joy, laughter and escapism.
