About me

Jose Socrates Delos Reyes is a Filipino educator, playwright, and dramaturg whose works have been staged in the Philippines and the UK. He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a BFA in Creative Writing. He moved to the UK in 2023 for his postgraduate studies and was awarded an MA (with Distinction) in Creative Writing Scriptwriting by the University of East Anglia.

In The Remains


Synopsis:

The Maranaos (‘People of the Lake’ in English) call Marawi their Islamic City. In May 2017, Marawi would be occupied by militants funded by the Islamic State seeking to establish their presence in the Philippines. The 5-month long Siege of Marawi would reduce the city to ruins. In the Remains is a full-length play that explores the narratives of militants, soldiers, and refugees. All victims, all yearning for home.
