About me

Freya Bennett is a screenwriter and playwright born, raised and based in East Anglia. After graduating with a First Class degree in Scriptwriting and Performance from the University of East Anglia in 2019, she began an internship in the scripted development team at Infinite Studios, one of South East Asia's leading film and television production companies. Since then, she has garnered broadcast writing credits on 'Motel Melati' (Catchplay/Netflix) and 'Phantom Squad' (Mediacorp). She has a feature in development with 108 Media and is in the process of pitching a sitcom pilot to production companies and broadcasters. Additionally, in 2024 she gained her first credit in video games as an additional writer on the upcoming Castle Pixel title 'Cattle Country.' She was awarded BAFTA Connect membership in October 2024.

Freya is also an award-winning playwright, with her debut play 'Hard Fists' winning the Minotaur Theatre Company creative writing prize when she was just a student. She was awarded the Norwich Theatre Royal Incubate bursary in 2023 and is developing new work with Reflex Theatre and Votive Theatre. In 2024, she placed in the top 9% of the inaugural Victoria Wood Playwriting Prize and the top 3% of the Bush Theatre's open submissions window. She is currently on the lookout for representation.

When Freya isn't writing, she is lecturing in scriptwriting at the Eastern Education Group or tutoring young people in Trinity Guildhall drama exams across all grades.
