About me

Ellen is a writer and dramaturg from the Northeast coast of Scotland, now based in London. Her play, Hotdog (Oran Mor, Macrobert Arts Centre, Traverse Theatre) was produced by A Play, A Pie and A Pint as part of their 2024 Spring Season. She was shortlisted for the St Andrews Playwriting Award 2022 and long-listed for the David MacLennan Award 2022. Last year, she was shortlisted for the Peter Shaffer Award with Trinity College Cambridge. She was a mentored playwright with Playwrights Studio Scotland in 2020/21 where she developed her script Catching Sounds

Synopsis:

Alone, dressed as a sausage in a bun and armed with only a bottle of lemonade, Hotdog is determined to be the life of the party.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

Hotdog is a dark comedy that explores the messy aftermath of a traumatic event and how it feels to lose yourself when you thought you were only just beginning.
