David Ferreira-Alves is a multidisciplinary artist whose work intersects theatre, dance, text, and sound, with a strong focus on the narratives of marginalized individuals. A lifelong lover of reading and writing, they began writing at the age of eleven, which laid the foundation for a creative journey that now combines artistic expression with critical exploration. Their artistic practice is an autoethnographic study, shaped by the process of devising, performing, and evaluating performance art. Through live performances, they explore the complex stories of those on the fringes of society, bringing attention to themes of belonging, intersectionality, and the human experience. This work blends theatre and movement to provoke both intellectual and emotional responses from audiences. Since 2022, they have engaged in practice-based research projects, collaborating with theatre makers, writers, and musicians to push the boundaries of contemporary performance. Their interests lie in ecological theatre, the concept of catharsis, and the exploration of the Anthropocene. They hold an MPhil in Theatre and Performance from Trinity College Dublin.
