About me
Arianna is a Mexican-American multidisciplinary creative (writer/director/sound designer). She is passionate about exploring the stories of women and global majority individuals.
Arianna writes for both film and theatre. Her debut feature screenplay, MARY SHELLEY, was a semifinalist for the 2023 Nicholl Fellowship (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). Writing for theatre includes #EDIT (Hope Theatre, Theatre Deli), and IVY DAY (Hope Theatre [upcoming], Golden Goose Theatre, Space Theatre). Her work-in-progress, an adaptation of E.M. Forster's queer novel MAURICE, will be developed as part of the Grange Projects Residency in May 2025.
Outside of writing, Arianna has success as a director and sound designer. She directed the Off West End Award-nominated play GASLIGHT (Etcetera Theatre), and associate directed the Tony Craze Award-winning play, REPARATIONS (Soho Theatre). She was Assistant Sound Designer on the Olivier-nominated musical NATASHA, PIERRE AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 (Donmar Warehouse); other sound design work has been featured at Camden People’s Theatre, Theatre Peckham, and the Edinburgh Fringe. She served on the V&A Youth Collective and is currently on Park Theatre’s Youth Board.

Synopsis:
Online, Kali is @madebyk, the creator behind the internet’s most viral videos of #whiteboysofthemonth. In real life? She’s a struggling artist, working in a magazine shop with her best friend, Alex. But when a night at the club takes an unexpected turn, Kali is forced to reckon with her suppressed sexuality, grappling with being a queer woman ofcolour in a world of compulsory heteronormativity, online and off.
