May began his career as a journalist, reporting on Middle Eastern politics and economy for Bloomberg, serving as the UK Correspondent for euronews, interviewing world leaders, and contributing to investigative projects for the BBC.
These professional experiences, combined with his tumultuous personal journey, inform his bold and evocative storytelling.
His original series Revolution is in co-development with Spiro Films (Israel) and Haut et Court (France) for France Télévisions. He was a development consultant on Red Rainbow for AR Content (Russia), a project that won Best Project at Series Mania Forum 2021. May created the six-part limited series Hunting Annika for Zentropa (Denmark) and is currently developing Moncton, a true crime series, for Connections TV (Canada).
His original play Homecoming is in development with Northcott Theatre (UK). In 2025, May joins the prestigious BBC Voices series development scheme.

Synopsis:
Homecoming is a story of love, trauma and repression. Set in Tehran, it shows a journalist return to his home country to deal with grief, rebuilding a relationship with his mother and navigate regime surveillance and repression.
It explores personal trauma with a backdrop of state repression; the relationship of a son with his mother fraught with invisible lines of grief and care, and the interrogation by intelligence that might fundamentally change the son’s life and take away his freedom.
