The Teacher
In a primary school classroom, the headteacher and the teacher’s assistant are preparing for the beginning of a new school year when two police detectives arrive and ask the headteacher to listen to a voice recording. Thirty years before, Dalia is a ten-year-old child who regresses to a previous life on Atlantis, where the children are offered a very different method of teaching. She describes this to her teacher, Mrs Simpson, who quickly appreciates the value of Dalia’s knowledge and adopts some of this approach in her teaching. Mrs Simpson is then sacked for not following the curriculum guidelines, even though the education system needs a desperate revision and revolution. Thirty years later, the two work together as teachers with good results in spite of the struggle they have battling against the system and the envy of others, which eventually leads to fatal consequences, which then involve the police once again from Act 1.
