Samantha Potter was the 2015 Papatango Resident Playwright, supported for a second year by a BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship and the Fenton Arts Trust.

Her debut play, MUCKY KID, for which she received a Most Promising New Playwright nomination at the Off West End Awards, opened at Theatre 503 in November 2013. Her second play, LOCAL BOY, was written on attachment at the National Theatre Studio and she has recently completed a new play, LOVE ME TO THE BONES.
Prior to writing MUCKY KID, Sam worked extensively as a director. Directing credits include: TU I TERAZ: HERE AND NOW (Hampstead Theatre, Nuffield Theatre, Colchester Mercury), BREATHING CORPSES (Theatre Souk), SH*T-MIX (Trafalgar Studios), SNOWBOUND (Trafalgar Studios), IN SPITTING DISTANCE (National Theatre Platform), PEAPICKERS (Eastern Angles), HEROES (National Theatre Education Tour), COSI FAN TUTTE (Glyndebourne- Revival Director), ARDEN OF FAVERSHAM (White Bear Theatre), THE HEAD OF RED O’BRIEN (Oran Mor- Glasgow), A SEXUAL CONGRESS (National Theatre Platform) and DON JUAN COMES BACK FROM THE WAR (Courtyard Theatre).
Sam was the Literary Manager at Out of Joint from 2011 – 2013 and is currently the Creative Associate for Headlong. She has run writing workshops for Salisbury Playhouse, Out of Joint, Soho Theatre and Headlong.
